The Event
The Island Lake Classic is an annual run taking place at Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville, Ontario. The 2026 edition will be held on September 7. This marks the 14th annual event. Admission to the park is free for participants and volunteers.
The Courses
Two in-person distances are offered on groomed trails, featuring numerous bridge crossings along the Vicki Barron Lakeside Trail.
- 10K Run: A full loop around the lake, described as a mostly flat, double track trail.
- 5K Run/Walk: A course mixing roller coaster single track, fast and flat double track, and cardio challenging slopes.
A kids' fun run of approximately 200 meters is also held on race morning. A virtual run option is available, with a package containing a medal and swag mailed to participants.
Practical Information
The event is cup-less. A reusable speed cup is provided for use at water stations. Kit pickup is available the day before or on race morning. There are no race day registrations. In-ear headphones are not permitted. Pets and strollers are not allowed on the course.
The event supports the Credit Valley Conservation Foundation, funding projects related to the park and the Credit Valley Trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
