Ironwood Challenge
The Ironwood Challenge is a roughly six(ish) mile off-road race through ancient woodland, fields and forest above the village of Long Ashton in North Somerset. The route runs on mixed terrain and is historically very muddy in sections.
The course is fully marked and marshalled. Chip timing is included and off-road shoes are strongly advised. An ARC permit has been applied for.
Facilities at race headquarters include limited free parking plus local street parking, a baggage store, first aid provision and toilet facilities. Organisers ask participants to be considerate of local residents when parking. Cake and tea or coffee are provided for all participants.
Entry information: the entry fee is £20. On-the-day entry is likely but not guaranteed. The race is limited to 250 runners and the minimum age is 18 years. Entries may be transferred to another runner prior to the race but may not be transferred to another event. No refunds are given for non-attendance.
Nailsea Running Club organises the event and will donate £1.00 from every race entry to Long Ashton Nature and Environment Trust (LANCE). Awards are given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female, and to category winners in Senior, V40, V50, V60, V70 and V80 male and female divisions, with one prize per person.
