Iron Heart Ultra
The Iron Heart Ultra takes place at Maramec Spring Park in St. James, Missouri. The event utilizes the diverse terrain of the Ozarks, featuring two primary trails within the park: the Leatherbritches Trail and the BallHooter Trail. The Leatherbritches Trail is a 1.8-mile path that passes through pine and oak-hickory forests with views of the historic Maramec Iron Works mine pit. The BallHooter Trail is a 3.2-mile loop with approximately 246 feet of elevation gain, combining runnable sections with technical trail segments.
Participants can choose from a wide variety of distances to suit different endurance levels:

The race village is located at the Massey Hill Shelter, which provides access to a fire pit, tables, and permanent bathroom facilities. An aid station is positioned at the transition point between the two trail loops, offering water and electrolyte drinks. Specialized awards, including custom belt buckles, are provided for finishers of the 100 Mile, 100K, 50 Mile, and 50K distances. Overall male and female awards are presented across all categories.
Logistical amenities include camping areas in the parking lot and grass near the shelter for participants. The event allows pacers for the 100 Mile and 100K distances after the 50-mile mark.
