Irish Eyes are Mile'ing 5K
The Irish Eyes are Mile'ing 5K is an annual running event held in Ocala, Florida. The event celebrates St. Patrick's Day with a themed race starting and finishing at Citizens Circle on SE Osceola Ave. Now in its fifth year, the event offers both an in-person race and a virtual option for those who cannot attend at the main location.
Participants have the opportunity to participate in several categories:
- 5K Run
- Virtual 5K
The physical course begins at Citizens Circle, where a pre-race warm-up session is provided. The event includes the Krazy Kilt Kontest, encouraging participants to wear Irish-themed attire such as kilts, hats, and shamrocks. Registered participants who finish the race are eligible for medals, which are limited to the first 225 finishers. Special commemorative pins and drawstring bags are also provided to early registrants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Organizers present laser-engraved awards to the Overall Male and Female winners, as well as Masters winners. Age group awards are structured in five-year increments, ranging from participants under 9 years old to those 75 and over. Following the completion of the race, attendees can gather for corned beef sliders and beverages at the award ceremony. Registration fees vary based on the timing of entry, and race day registration is conducted via cash or check only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
