Irish American 5 & 10k Road Race
The event is a community road race in Malden, Massachusetts, held on September 7, 2026 at 177 West Street. Two distances are offered:
- 5 km
- 10 km
Entry fees vary by registration date. Pricing examples for 2026 are: Early Bird (May 15–June 30) 5K $35 and 10K $40; Regular (July 1–September 6) 5K $42 and 10K $47; Race Day (September 7) 5K $45 and 10K $52. The race entry includes water on course and at the finish line, a race T-shirt (sizes not guaranteed; shirts are guaranteed if registered by August 25), entry to the after-party, and two drink tickets.
Teams that register at least 15 runners by August 31 qualify for team perks. Team benefits include a tent with snacks, water, and beer (beer not provided for high school or college teams) and participation in team awards such as Fastest Team, Largest Team, and Most Spirited Team.
The course is described as mostly flat and winds through Malden’s Edgeworth neighborhood near the Malden–Medford border; it is marked and supported by volunteers and police escorts. Medals are planned for winners and runners-up in each age group, with age groups listed from 17 and under through 70 and over. A portion of race proceeds will be donated to the Malden Warming Center, which provides winter shelter and support for adults experiencing homelessness.
