Irish American 5 and 10k Road Race
The Irish American 5 and 10k Road Race takes place on September 7, 2026, in Malden, Massachusetts, at 177 West Street. The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Registration pricing for 2026 is tiered: Early Bird (May 15 through June 30) sets the 5K at $35 and the 10K at $40; Regular (July 1 through September 6) sets the 5K at $42 and the 10K at $47; Race Day pricing is $45 for the 5K and $52 for the 10K. A 10% team discount is available when teams meet the organizer requirements.
The race entry fee includes entry to the chosen distance, water on course and at the finish line, a race T-shirt (sizes not guaranteed), access to the after-party, and two drink tickets. Teams with 15 or more registered runners by August 31 qualify for team perks such as a 10% discount code for members, a tent for gear, snacks, and water and beer at the tent (beer not provided for high school or college teams). Team awards include Fastest Team, Largest Team, and Most Spirited Team.
The course is described as mostly flat and runs through Malden’s Edgeworth neighborhood, skirting the Malden-Medford border. The route is well marked and supported by volunteers and police escorts. Medallions are awarded to first and second place finishers, men and women, in these age groups: 17 and under, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
A portion of proceeds will be donated after the race to the Malden Warming Center, an organization that provides winter shelter and services for adults experiencing homelessness. Music, entertainment, food, and libations are available at the event. Sponsors include several local businesses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
