Ipoly Maraton : Szob and the Ipoly valley
The Ipoly Maraton is a spring road running event with routes along the Ipoly river near the Danube Bend, starting and finishing in Szob, Köztársaság tér. The course follows the EuroVelo 6 corridor for large sections, with riverbank views, cycling paths, embankments and open panoramas. Part of the route passes near a bison reserve, and some longer distances include gravel and compacted dirt sections.
The course has minimal elevation change; the highest and lowest points differ by about 10 meters. Total ascent values are listed as 40 meters for the 10.5 km loop and 80 meters for the half marathon distance, which contributes to a generally fast, rolling profile.
Refreshment stations supply water, isotonic drink, cola, banana, apple, biscuits and energy gels. Station locations are listed at roughly 0.3 km, 3.75 km, 5.3 km and 9 km; finish refreshments are available at the cultural house.
Race center facilities at the cultural house in Szob include bib pickup, luggage drop and toilets; showers are not provided. Parking options exist near the river, with some free spaces about 200 meters from the start area and additional street parking in surrounding lanes. The event applies a participant limit of 800 and publishes entry fees for each distance during set registration periods.
