For Kids' Sake International Superhero 5K Run/Walk
The 14th For Kids' Sake International Superhero 5K Run/Walk takes place on September 19, 2026 at Turley Park, 1010 N. Glenview Drive, Carbondale, IL. The event offers both an in-person option at the park and a virtual option that can be completed anywhere. The course distance is 3.1 miles.
Registration opens June 10, 2026 and closes September 20, 2026. Fees are listed as Adults $25 and Kids (17 and under) $15; pre-registration by September 7 guarantees an event t-shirt where sizes are available. Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, September 18 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Turley Park, and shipping is available for virtual participants.
Registration proceeds support provision of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education, and opportunities to children and families in Southern Illinois, Bangladesh and The Gambia. A fundraising challenge is offered; participants who raise $350 or more receive an FKSI Stanley Cup.
In-person results use chip timing on the certified Superhero 5K course. Awards include first and second place in each five-year age division for in-person participants and recognitions for top fundraisers, fastest times, best superhero costumes, and best dressed pet.
