Inlet Walk for Brain Cancer Research
The Inlet Walk for Brain Cancer Research is scheduled for September 5, 2026 in Avalon, New Jersey. The walk begins at the 28th Street Boardwalk Beach Path and finishes at either Hereford Inlet at Stone Harbor Point or Windrift Beach at 79th Street. The main walking distance is 8 miles. Participants may join the group at any beach along 7 Mile Island, from 28th Street through Stone Harbor Point.
The event is organized by families affected by glioblastoma and honors those lost to this form of brain cancer in 2025. Glioblastoma is described as an aggressive, fast growing type of brain tumor and many patients survive less than a year after diagnosis. Funds raised support research at the Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a partnered nonprofit, the Dragon Master Initiative. Last year’s event raised over $50,000 for research.
A post walk social will be held at the Windrift at 79th Street where attendees will gather to celebrate, remember, and share refreshments. Registration carries a fee of $25 and registration opens on June 1, 2026 with a closing date of September 4, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
