About the race
The INFERNO Half Marathon and Relay is an alpine mountain race in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, with over 2,000 m of elevation gain. The route starts in Lauterbrunnen and finishes on the Schilthorn. The event date shown is 21 August 2027.
The race is organised for solo runners and three-person relay teams. Categories cover juniors, main class, and three senior age groups for both women and men. The relay splits the half marathon into three stages with handover using a baton tape issued at number pickup.
Participants must be well prepared for alpine conditions; appropriate mountain running equipment is strongly recommended. Medical staff and race officials can remove participants if a health risk is identified. Doping controls may be conducted under Swiss Olympic rules. The organiser may change the route and does not guarantee fee refunds in cases of force majeure.
Included services for solo runners: return ride on the Schilthorn or Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway (start number serves as ticket), pasta party, race T-shirt, luggage transport, on-course nutrition, first aid, and massage. Relay entries include transport for later relay runners and similar included services. A prize structure awards cash to the top six overall finishers and additional material prizes per category.
