Event Overview
The 17th Annual Indy 5K & Color Us Kids Run takes place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The event is held at The Independence School, located at 1300 Paper Mill Road in Newark, Delaware.
Distances and Entry
The event consists of two separate runs.
- Indy 5K
- Color Us Kids Run
Participants who want to take part in both runs are instructed to only register and pay for the Indy 5K. Standard adult registration is $35, with a youth price of $25 for participants 17 years and under. Bib pickup for the 5K is from 5:00 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. on event day at The Independence School.
On-Site Activities and Charity
Proceeds from the event support the First Responders Community Partnership, which provides tuition discounts to children of first responders. Starting at 4:45 p.m., there will be demonstrations from attending first responder units. Food trucks will be available from 5 p.m.
Participant Amenities and Awards
The first 325 registered participants receive a race T-shirt. All participants in the Color Us Kids Run receive neon sunglasses. Post-race snacks and music from a DJ will be provided at the finish line. Awards are given for the 5K only, including overall male/female and masters winners, as well as medals for the top three male/female finishers in nine age groups.
