17th Annual Indy 5K & Color Us Kids Run
The event takes place on May 19, 2026 at The Independence School, 1300 Paper Mill Road, Newark, DE 19711. It includes two events:
- 5K Indy 5K
- Color Us Kids Run
Registration is priced per race at $35 for adults and $25 for youth 17 and under; the registration price will update on the form once a participant's birthday is entered. Participants registered for the Indy 5K do not need to pay separately to take part in the kids run.
All race proceeds support the First Responders Community Partnership, which offers tuition discounts to students with one or both parents actively employed full time as first responders in law enforcement, fire protection, as emergency medical technicians, or in the armed forces.
The event features demonstrations by First Responders from agencies including the State of Delaware, New Castle County, University of Delaware, Newark, and Wilmington. Food trucks will be on site. Amenities listed for participants include a race T shirt for the first 325 registered, neon sunglasses for Color Us Kids Run participants, post race snacks at the finish line, and music provided by a DJ. Bib pick up is available for the 5K only. Awards for the 5K include overall male and female winners, overall masters male and female winners, and medals for the top three male and female finishers in 10 year age groups 9 and under, 10 to 13, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus.
