Event overview

The INDY 5K presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama takes place on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL (6040 Barber Motorsports Parkway). The event uses the park's 17-turn road course and offers two event options.

5K - chip timed, USATF certified course (AL19010JE)
Sleep In - alternate event option

The race benefits Children’s of Alabama. Race entry includes a finisher medal, race t-shirt (first 550 registrants guaranteed a shirt while supplies last), a swag bag, one onsite parking pass, Friday general admission to the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, and one entry to the post-race party.

Logistics and policies

Packet pickup is available before the race and on race day at Lot E at Barber Motorsports Park. All 5K participants must sign a waiver at packet pickup to receive a wristband required to run on the track. Participants must show a printed registration confirmation to enter and park in Lot E. A state-issued ID is required to receive a 21+ wristband for adult beverages. Pets are not allowed on site. Water stations are located at the start line, halfway mark, and finish line. Entry fees are non-refundable; transfers are allowed online only until March 20, 2026. Awards are given by gun time with overall and 10-year age-group divisions.
