About the race
The INDY 5K presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama is scheduled for April 2, 2027 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The event uses the park road course and offers a chip-timed 5K run on a USATF certified course (AL19010JE).
Race entry for the 5K includes a finisher medal, a race T-shirt, chip timing, all-day Friday general admission to the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, one onsite parking pass, a swag bag, and one entry to the post-race party. Non-runner registration includes a race T-shirt (shirts are not mailed and must be picked up during packet pickup), all-day Friday general admission, one onsite parking pass, swag bag, and one entry to the post-race party; non-runner registration does not provide access to the racetrack. The first 500 registrants are guaranteed a shirt while supplies last; shirt sizes are not guaranteed.
Packet pickup is available at a local hotel on the days before the event and on race day at Lot E at Barber Motorsports Park. All 5K participants must sign a waiver at packet pickup to receive a wristband to be on the track; only registered 5K participants are allowed on the track. Participants over 21 must show state-issued ID to receive the additional wristband for 21+ beverages. Entry fees are non-refundable; online registrations may be transferred until March 27, 2027. Pets are not allowed at Barber Motorsports Park. Water stations will be located at the start, the halfway mark, and the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
