Event overview
The INDY 5K presented by BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama is a running event at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL on Friday, March 27, 2026. The event includes a 5K chip-timed race and a "Sleep In" option. The 5K uses the park's 17-turn road course and is a USATF certified 5K course (AL19010JE). The event benefits Children’s of Alabama.
Race details and logistics
Race entry includes a finisher medal, a race T-shirt (first 550 registered receive a shirt), one onsite parking pass for Lot E, a swag bag, Friday general admission to the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, and entry to the post-race party. The 5K is chip timed and awards are given by gun time for top overall male and female and top 3 in 10-year age groups (14 and under; 15–19; 20–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60–69; 70+). Water stations are located at the start, halfway mark, and finish. Pets are not allowed on venue grounds. Strollers should start at the back of the field and children must be kept with guardians.
Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled at a nearby hotel on March 25 and March 26, with on-site packet pickup and registration available on race day in Lot E. All participants must sign a waiver at packet pickup and present printed registration confirmation to enter and park in Lot E. Entry fees are non-refundable; online registration transfers are allowed until March 20, 2026. RaceJoy mobile app features are available for live tracking.
