Hornitos Run - March 15, 2026
The 48th Annual Indian Gulch Hornitos Run is hosted by the Merced Running Club in Hornitos, California. The event takes place at Hornitos Central Park, with courses on Hornitos Road between the town of Hornitos and Indian Gulch. Distances offered are:
- 2-mile
- 5-mile
- 10-mile
Course and event details
All three distances are out-and-back road courses. Aid stations are provided at the turnaround points for the 5-mile and 10-mile courses, and the 2-mile turnaround is clearly marked. Professional chipped timing is provided by BizzRunningCompany. Top finishers in each 10-year age group receive race-themed awards, and Golden Horseshoe awards go to the first male and female finishers in each age division.
Pre-registration for the event is listed at $40, with same-day registration available for $50, payable by cash or check. Packet pickup and t-shirt distribution occur on race day; t-shirts are given to all pre-registrations and offered first-come first-serve to same-day registrants. Registration includes a continental breakfast. Proceeds benefit the Mariposa High School Track Team, and additional donations to the team are accepted.
The event is plastic-cup-less; participants are asked to bring their own cups or bottles. Walkers are allowed on the 2-mile and 5-mile courses; 10-mile participants are expected to run. Babies and dogs are not recommended because the course runs on an open road with a narrow shoulder. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
