Distances and Time Limits

The Indian Creek Trail Runs is a multi-distance trail running event offering four options:

  • A 50-mile race and a 55k (approx. 34 miles) race, both with a 14-hour time limit.
  • A 15-mile race and a 5-mile race, both with a 12-hour time limit. The combined runner capacity for all distances is 225. The event is scheduled for a Saturday in October and marks its 13th year.

Course and Setting

The start and finish area is the Indian Creek Campground near Sedalia, Colorado. The courses use single-track trails that travel through lower and upper montane ecosystems on the Front Range. Runners will pass through lodgepole pine forests, aspen groves, and areas with red rocks and tall grasses. The timing of the event coincides with the changing colors of autumn foliage in Colorado. Views include glimpses of the Denver metro area and nearby 14,000-foot peaks.

Event Logistics

All participants may use a drop bag at the start/finish area. Crew access for the longer distances is limited to the start/finish area only and is discouraged due to limited parking. Parking is limited, and a fee may apply for vehicles with fewer than two registered runners. Pacers are only allowed for 50-mile participants on their final loop.

The event has a designated snow date in the event of significant snowfall. An earlier start option is available for runners who need more time. There is a Halloween costume contest. Runners in the 50-mile or 55k events have a mid-race option to drop down to a shorter distance and still receive a finisher's award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
