Inclusion in Motion
Inclusion in Motion is a six hour endurance event at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY, held on September 13, 2026 and operating rain or shine. The event brings together athletes of varying abilities to share a common course and to highlight accessible participation in running and adaptive sports.
Participants may run or walk solo, join a team, push an adaptive athlete, or be pushed as an athlete. The format uses repeated 3.1 mile loops with an individual cap of eight loops, which equals a marathon distance. The event also offers a short 100 meter dash designed for participants of all abilities. The course and event area are described as fully accessible and include adaptive changing tents.
On-site features include family games and activities, live music, and food trucks. Proceeds from the event are directed toward grants that assist families and individuals with medical equipment, services, home modifications, and other needs not covered by insurance. The event serves the Long Island community and is presented as part of The Run to Breakthrough initiatives.
