Inclusive Endurance Event at Heckscher State Park
Inclusion In Motion is an endurance event held at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, New York. The event focuses on bringing together athletes of all abilities to promote inclusion through movement. The venue features the Taylor Pavilion at Field 2 and provides a fully accessible racecourse for all participants.
Participants have a six-hour window to complete their chosen distance. The course is designed around a 3.1-mile loop, and individuals can complete as many loops as they choose, up to a maximum of eight loops which totals a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Available event formats include:
- 6-Hour Run: Participants complete 3.1-mile loops, ranging from a 5k up to 26.2 miles.
- 100m Dash: A short distance event designed for all abilities to reach the finish line.
- 6-Hour Run and 100m Dash: A combination entry for both event types.
The event setup includes specific accommodations such as adaptive changing tents. On-site amenities and entertainment consist of live music, food trucks, and various family games and activities. Participants may participate solo, join a team, or take part as a duo where one person pushes an adaptive athlete. All proceeds from the event are used to provide grants for medical equipment, home modifications, and services that are not covered by insurance.
