I’m Here for the Food (Pantry) 5k
The I’m Here for the Food (Pantry) 5k is a community event held at Busse Woods (Grove #32) in Elk Grove Village. This event supports the Christus Victor Lutheran Church Food Pantry, which provides food and personal care items to families in need.
Participants can choose from the following options:
- 5k Participant: A chip-timed 5k course for runners and walkers.
- I'm JUST Here for the Food: An option for individuals who wish to attend the festivities without participating in the 5k.
The event features a variety of community activities, including a DJ and a cookout following the race. Children can participate in dedicated activities and an untimed, free children's race. A collection box is available on-site for food donations.
Registration for the 5k includes a t-shirt, while those in the non-participant category have the option to add one. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in several age categories spanning from 9 and under to 70 and up. Packet pick-up is available both the day before the event at a local running store in Schaumburg and at the race location on the morning of the event.
