I'm Here for the Food (Pantry) 5K
This community event takes place on September 26, 2026 at Busse Woods (Grove #32) in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The event is organized to raise funds for the Christus Victor Lutheran Church Food Pantry, which supports over 60 families each week.
The food pantry provides nonperishable and perishable food items, personal care products, and seasonal items such as hats and gloves in winter. Funds remaining after race expenses will go to the food pantry and the church. A raffle to support the pantry is scheduled for September 27 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church.
Event features include a chip-timed 5K run or walk, an untimed free children’s race, a DJ, a cookout, children’s activities, and a collection box for food donations.

Registration information and fees are set by the organizer. Registered 5K participants pay $35 and receive a t-shirt. Nonparticipants register for $17 and may purchase a t-shirt for an additional $8. A family rate of $100 is available for a family of four. Packet pick-up is offered at Xtra Mile Running in Schaumburg on September 25 and on race morning at Busse Woods (Grove #32).
