Iggy's 4 on the Fourth Freedom Run
Iggy's Freedom Run is a Fourth of July running event held in the Historic District of Ocala, Florida. The event features a scenic 4 Miles course that starts and finishes at Marion County Veterans Park and runs through tree-lined streets in the historic district. The route is mostly flat with gentle rolling hills, includes water stations at miles 1, 2, and 3, and is marked with mile markers and professional chip timing. Portions of the course are shaded, and course support and cheering sections are provided along the route.
Race day includes on-site registration and packet pickup, pre-race warm-up and opening ceremonies, and an awards ceremony after the last finisher. Parking is primarily at the Ocala Public Library with free spaces and a short walk to the park; handicap accessible parking is available. Awards include overall categories by age brackets such as Masters and Grand Masters, top-three age-group placings for male and female competitors across age groups from 1-9 through 80 plus, and special recognitions such as Most Patriotic Costume, Largest Team, and Military/Veteran Recognition. Registered participants receive an official race t-shirt (guaranteed for those registered by June 15th), a patriotic finisher medal, post-race refreshments, downloadable race photos, and race merchandise. The event raises awareness for Marion County Veterans Park, a community resource providing services, recreational facilities, and a gathering place for veterans and their families.
