Event overview
The 2026 GLIRC Icebreaker offers a marathon, half marathon and 5K held on January 24, 2026, at Eisenhower Park - Field 2 in East Meadow, NY. The course is certified and designated as a Boston Qualifier. The race uses looped routes on park paths and fully closed roads, with water and nutrition stations along the course. Virtual marathon and virtual half marathon options are available with a results upload window from 1/24 to 2/1.
Course, registration and services
The marathon has a 6 hour cutoff and requires runners to begin the final lap within the event cutoff. Registration includes in-person and virtual options; discounts are offered for GLIRC members, veterans, and seniors (65+). Participants are provided long sleeve technical shirts and finisher medals; personalized bibs are available if registered at least three weeks in advance. The event offers live/text/email timing results, free finish-line photos, and same-day finish line video. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers and to the top three male and female masters. Beneficiaries include GLIRC and Medals4Mettle.
