Hyannis 1 Triathlon : Craigville Beach, Cape Cod
The Hyannis 1 Triathlon is a multisport event held at Craigville Beach in the village of Centerville, Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts. The event offers Sprint and Olympic triathlon distances plus duathlon, aquabike, and aquathlon options, and includes individual, relay, age group, elite, Clydesdale/Athena, para-triathlete, first-timer, and casual divisions.
Swim, bike and run courses follow local roads and shoreline. Open-water swims take place in Nantucket Sound with typical water temperatures in the high 60s to low 70s. Swim courses are lifeguarded and supported by safety boats; sprint swims keep athletes within about 100 yards of shore. Bike routes are single-loop circuits that pass through Centerville, Osterville and Wianno and include rolling hills. Run courses include mild rolling grades with aid stations staffed along the route.
Distances include:
- Sprint: 0.25 mile swim, 10.2 mile bike, 3.6 mile run
- Olympic: 0.9 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Duathlon and aquathlon variations follow comparable run and swim segments
The event is USAT sanctioned and requires either an annual or one-day USA Triathlon membership; nonmembers must purchase the required one-day license. Awards are presented for top places across age groups and divisions, and official results are posted following the event. Registration is available online or in-person and late-entry fees apply in the days before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
