Huntington Sprint, Olympic, and Half Iron Triathlon : July 19, 2026
The event takes place at Lake Clare, 1005 North Broadway, Huntington, IN on July 19, 2026. It is USAT sanctioned and professionally chip timed. The field is limited to 1000 total racers. All participants receive a race t-shirt and finishers receive a medal. Results will include overall time and segment splits and are posted live after the race.
Race formats, courses, and rules
- Sprint Triathlon: 500 yard swim; 12 mile bike; 3.1 mile run
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500 meter / 1650 yard swim; ~25 mile bike; 6.2 mile run
- Half Iron Triathlon: 1.2 mile swim; 56 mile bike; 13.1 mile run
Additional options include duathlons, aquabike divisions, and 2- or 3-person relays. Time trial style individual swim starts will be used. Minimum age is 12 (by December 31, 2026).
Swim: Lake swim with buoys, safety kayaks, and swim caps provided. Wetsuit rules follow USAT temperature guidelines: allowed at 78 F and below; allowed but ineligible for awards between 78.1 and 83.9 F; prohibited at 84 F and above.
Bike: Courses run on flat county roads open to traffic with traffic control at intersections. The Half Iron bike has three aid stations at about 20, 28, and 48 miles; shorter courses have no bike aid stations. Participants must carry their own audio devices are prohibited and helmets must meet CPSC standards.
Run and transition: Run courses use paved roads and paved trails through Huntington; the Olympic and Half Iron use a new paved trail course. Transition is on grass near the beach with up to eight bikes per rack. Aid stations on the run occur frequently in the park and about every mile once out of the park. Contingency plans convert distances if swim or bike segments are unsafe. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
