Event Overview
The Huntington Sprint, Olympic, and Half Iron Triathlon is an annual multisport event held at Lake Clare Park in Huntington, Indiana. The event offers various formats including triathlons, duathlons, and aquabike races across multiple distances. Participants can compete as individuals or as part of two-person or three-person relay teams.
Course Details
The competition begins with a swim in Lake Clare, a venue noted for its spectator viewing areas. The cycling portion takes place on county roads. For the Olympic and Half Iron distances, the running course consists of flat, fast, paved trails through the town of Huntington. This updated run route replaces previous sections involving grass and hills. Olympic participants complete one lap of the run course, while Half Iron participants complete two laps.
Available Distances
The event features three primary triathlon tiers:
- Sprint Triathlon: 500-yard lake swim, 12-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run.
- Olympic Triathlon: 1650-yard swim, 24.8-mile bike, and 6.2-mile run.
- Half Iron Triathlon: 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run.
In addition to the standard triathlons, athletes can choose Duathlon or AquaBike options for each distance tier. The event is managed by Ruble Racing and utilizes Lake Clare Park as the central hub for the start and transition areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
