Hudson County Strides for Safety 5K

The Office of the Hudson County Executive organizes the 5th Annual Strides for Safety 5K, an event in Lincoln Park, Jersey City focused on raising awareness to end gun violence. The event features a USATF certified 5K course and includes community activities that highlight local organizations working on public safety and peacebuilding.

Participants may run or walk the main 5K course; walkers begin immediately after the runners. A Kids Fun Run is also part of the program. Following the race there is an after party and BBQ near the finish line that includes an awards ceremony, musical entertainment, family activities, and tables from local safety community organizations. Health focused vendors offer yoga classes, smoothies, and massages, among other services. Registration for the 5K includes a T shirt, a bib number, a light breakfast, refreshments, BBQ lunch, and entertainment.

Volunteer roles are available and include tasks such as participant registration and check in, distributing T shirts, assisting with breakfast, and staffing aid or water stations. Volunteers are assigned tasks upon arrival.
