Howl at the Moon events in Long Beach
Howl at the Moon is a set of road races held at Alamitos Beach, 780 E Shoreline Dr, Long Beach, CA. The event uses an out and back format on the beach path; runners will share the course with other path users and are asked to keep to the right for pedestrians while cyclists use the left.
Distances:
- 5K one lap of the 5K route
- 10K two laps of the 5K route
- 10 Mile two laps of the 5 mile route
- Half Marathon two laps of the 5 mile route plus one lap of the 5K route
On-course support includes a fully stocked water station at Belmont Pier and a finish line aid station with water, gatorade, gels, and fruit snacks. Each aid station has a first aid kit and all crew members have received CPR training. Course turns are marked with chalk, runner turn signs, and flags.
Race-day bib pick-up is available near Claremont Ave, and early bib pick-up is offered at Sports Basement Long Beach on the second floor; a store discount is communicated by email the week of the event. Gear check is available at the registration tent; participants should bring their own bag. Parking in the lot is $2 per hour and street parking is free. Overall first place male and female in each distance receive medals. Race results and photos are emailed the day after the event and race photos are free.
