Houston Rockets Run

Overview
The Houston Rockets Run is a 24th annual community run. Participants can choose from a 5K race, a 2 Mile walk/run, or a Kids' 1K fun run. A standard registration includes a spot in the chosen race, one ticket to an upcoming Houston Rockets basketball game, a finisher medal, and access to a post-race party. The race supports Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Race Details
Participants can choose from three events:
- 5K Race
- 2 Mile Run/Walk
- Kids' 1K Fun Run
All Kids' 1K participants receive a medal. The post-race party takes place at Root Memorial Square Park and includes entertainment, food, and drink. Awards for the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K are presented at the party.
Registration and Logistics
Registration pricing increases after a certain date. Active or retired military personnel and specific credit union members can receive a discount by using a provided code during online registration, with verification required at packet pickup. Packet pickup occurs on two specified dates at the La Branch Street entrance of a venue on Polk Street.
Refunds or exchanges are not available for this event. Event corrections or switches must be made in person at packet pickup, not on race day.
Participant Information
Children must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Anyone wishing to run with a child in the Kids' 1K must also register and wear a bib number. Headphones are not allowed during the race for safety reasons.
Strollers are prohibited in the 5K race but are allowed in the 2 Mile walk and Kids' 1K, though they cannot cross the finish line and must re-route. Pets are not allowed at the event.
Venue and Spectators
The Kids' 1K finish line is inside the Toyota Center on the basketball court. Free parking is available in the Toyota Tundra garage until a specified time on race morning. Spectators can enter the Toyota Center to watch the Kids' 1K finish line from 7:00 AM at the La Branch Street entrance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
