Steps for Students 5K
Steps for Students is an annual event that benefits the 56 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. The event on February 13, 2027 takes place at 1700 San Jacinto St, Houston, TX 77002 and combines religious and community activities with running events.
The day includes a Sunrise Mass, a sanctioned 5K race, and a post-race gathering in the Catholic School Village. In 2026 more than 10,000 people registered and the event raised over $1,100,000 to support the distinct needs of the archdiocese schools.
Options to participate are offered in several formats. These include timed and untimed 5K races, a short family fun run, fundraising for a school, an alternative registration that supports the schools without race attendance, and volunteer ambassador roles at parishes. The alternative registration option provides the official race t shirt but does not include a race bib or medal.
