Event Overview
The House of Dun Duathlon is hosted by Montrose Triathlon Club. The event is based at the House of Dun, a National Trust for Scotland property. The course involves two off-road run sections within the grounds and a bike section mainly on quiet country roads. Trail trainers are advised due to the off-road conditions.
Course Details
The event follows a run-bike-run format with these distances:
- First run: 5.6 km
- Bike: 25.8 km
- Second run: 3.8 km
The bike route will be signed with marshals positioned along the course. Participants must follow the highway code as marshals cannot stop traffic. There is a mandatory stop and unclip point at the Dun/Montrose road junction for safety. Failure to unclip will result in disqualification.
Event Information
There is a participant limit of 120, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and a waiting list in operation. Teams are welcome; only the team lead should enter, specifying team names during registration. Changes to team members must be communicated to the organizers. The race number also functions as the timing chip and must be passed between team members after each section.
Car parking is available on-site, though space is limited, so car sharing is encouraged. A payment of £3 is required for parking. First aid will be available at the House of Dun. Breakfast rolls and coffee will be for sale in the House of Dun cafe after the event.
Entry Requirements
The entry fee is £35 per person or £40 per team. Participants who are not members of a home nation governing body (such as Triathlon Scotland) must purchase a British Triathlon Race Pass for public liability insurance. Race passes will be checked on the day. All team members must either be members or purchase a day race pass. The event is held under Triathlon Scotland rules.
