Overview
The Hot Cocoa race is the 10th annual event sponsored by Sylvania Prevention Alliance. It takes place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Olander Park in Sylvania, Ohio. Proceeds support youth programs that promote healthy lifestyle choices and prevention of drug, alcohol use, and other at-risk behaviors. Multiple corrals will be used for a safe start. Age group awards are given after the races. Hot cocoa and grab-and-go snacks are available after the finish.

Course and race details
The 1 mile events use a loop around Olander Lake and are timed for both children and adults. The 5K begins at the Nederhouser Community Building, follows park trails, crosses Sylvania Avenue into the Farmbrook neighborhood, uses the University Parks trail to McCord Road, returns to Olander Park, and finishes by circling the lake at Nederhouser. The 10K follows the 5K course and extends further on the University Parks trail before returning to the 5K finish. The courses are open to traffic and are not closed roads. Maps will be provided online and at packet pick-up.
Registration and packet pick-up
Event entry fees vary by distance. Early bird pricing ends and shirt guarantee changes occur in early February; prices increase after February 3, 2026. Packet pick-up is scheduled at Dave's Running Shop in Sylvania on Thursday, February 19, and at Nederhouser in Olander Park on Friday, February 20. Limited race day packet pick-up is available for those living more than 30 minutes away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
