About the race
Hooves to Freedom Trail Race takes place at Moccasin Creek Off-Road Park in Blackshear, Georgia, at 7055 Wilton Rd. The event includes an in-person trail race and a virtual option. The course is a trail run with some mud, roots, and sand, while most of the route crosses open grassy fields. The start is a gun start so all runners begin at the same time.
Registration details differ by event: in-person registration opens May 3, 2026 and closes November 27, 2026 with a registration fee of $25. Virtual registration opens May 3, 2026 and closes January 23, 2027 with a fee of $35. Registration in by midnight on January 10 is required to guarantee a long sleeve Sports Tech T-Shirt. A multi-family discount is offered.
Timing and results use chip timing and finish line photos provided by Bailey Race Management. Proceeds benefit Hooves To Freedom, a local nonprofit that offers equine and animal-assisted activities for people ages 8 to 108 and supports surrounding counties with programs for individuals with mental, cognitive, or behavioral disorders, at-risk youth, and victims of trauma, abuse, and grief. The event also serves as a celebration in memory of a friend of Hooves To Freedom.
