Event
The Hooves To Freedom Trail Race offers an on-site trail event and a virtual option, both 8k, on January 24, 2026. Entry for each event is listed at $35 and registration closes on January 24, 2026. Fees include a long-sleeve Sports Tech T-shirt; registration by January 11 guarantees a shirt. Chip timing and finish-line photos are provided by Bailey Race Management. The event uses a gun start so all participants begin at the same time. A multi-family discount is available.
Location and course
The on-site race is held at Moccasin Creek Off-Road Park, 7055 Wilton Rd, Blackshear, GA 31516. The course is a trail run with sections of mud, roots, and sand, while most of the route runs across open grassy fields. A drone video of the course is available from the organizer.
Awards and beneficiary
Awards include overall male and female, masters male and female (40+), and the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Age groups are: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The overall male and female winners receive a free pair of shoes from Game Changers Running Company. Local hand-crafted wood-burned awards are also presented. Proceeds benefit Hooves To Freedom, a local nonprofit that offers equine and animal-assisted activities for people ages 8-108 and supports services for mental, cognitive, and behavioral needs, at-risk youth, and victims of trauma, abuse, and grief.
