Location and Date
The event takes place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at River Bends Park in Shelby Township, Michigan. The start and finish location is the Hickory Grove Pavilion at the 22 Mile Road entrance.
Events and Distances
The event offers three different distance combinations across two terrains.
- An 8 km trail run.
- A 5 km run/walk on a paved bike path.
- The Hoot X 2, which consists of running the 8 km trail race followed by the 5 km paved race. Participants in this event must finish the 8 km portion in 60 minutes or less to start the 5 km.
Registration and Pricing
Registration is available online. The listed registration prices are $50 for the 8 km or 5 km, and $65 for the Hoot X 2. Youth aged 13 and under can register for $20. Race day registration is available for an increased fee. The first 50 registrants receive a mystery gift.
Participants can create or join teams during registration, with recognition for the team showing the most spirit.
Participant Perks
Participants receive a choice of swag: a gender-specific 1/4 zip tech shirt or a tech running cap. All youth finishers receive a finisher award. Other finishers receive a unique finisher gift. Post-race refreshments are provided, and a coffee truck will be onsite.
Awards
Awards are given for multiple categories.
- 8 km: Overall male and female, plus age group awards (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+).
- 5 km: Overall male and female, plus age group awards (13 and under, 14-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+).
- Hoot X 2: Top two male and female finishers based on total combined time.
Schedule and Logistics
Early packet pickup is available one week prior at Hanson's Running Shop in Utica. On race day, registration opens at 7:45 AM. The 8 km trail race starts at 9:30 AM. The 5 km paved race starts at 10:30 AM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
