Hoofin' it on the Ranch
Hoofin' it on the Ranch is a community running event at Grant-Kohrs National Historic Ranch in Deer Lodge, Montana on July 25, 2026. The course departs from the Visitor's Center and follows Cottonwood Creek to the Clark Fork River, passing through grassland habitat and an old Milwaukee Railroad right-of-way that crosses a swampy area where aquatic birds are often seen.
The event offers multiple distance options that explore different parts of the ranch. The longest route extends to the far pastures and reaches the main herd of cattle, providing longer on-ranch running and varied terrain. The event takes place the same day as the annual Cookin’ on the Clark Fork BBQ Cook-off in downtown Deer Lodge.
Proceeds from the event will be donated toward the Deer Lodge Track and Football Field Complex for the Deer Lodge School District. A registration fee of $12.00 is listed.
