Honey Bags 5K and Kids Fun Run
The Honey Bags 5K and Kids Fun Run takes place in Fairmont, West Virginia, starting and finishing on the campus of East Fairmont High School. This event is organized in partnership with the Marion County Running and Walking Club and serves as the inaugural race in their 2026 series. All proceeds from the participation fees support HONEY Bags Inc., a local non-profit organization that provides weekend food bags to school-age children at several local elementary and middle schools.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 5K
- 800m
The 5K distance is a road course open to both runners and walkers. The route begins at the high school campus and proceeds downhill on Airport Road. Participants turn right at Crosswinds for an out-and-back section before passing the municipal airport. The course then features a loop around the Brickside Grille parking lot before returning along Airport Road to finish back at the school campus. Results are categorized by age, and awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers.
The 800m Kids Fun Run is specifically designed for children under the age of 12. This shorter race consists of approximately 2.5 laps around the lower parking lot of East Fairmont High School.
