Hometown Hustle 5K and 1 Mile Color Fun Run
The Rochester Community Schools Foundation organizes an annual fundraising event that combines a timed or untimed five-kilometer run or walk with a one mile color fun run. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, and is presented by Chief Financial Credit Union.
The Hometown Hustle brings together participants and onlookers to support programs for Rochester Community Schools students. Past editions have drawn more than 1,100 participants and onlookers, and proceeds are returned to RCS to enhance academic, arts, and athletic opportunities. In 2025 the event reported donations totaling $89,479 prior to expenses.
Every registrant receives a swag bag that includes a t-shirt, bib, and sponsor items. Color run participants receive a color packet and tattoos. Awards are presented to the fastest runners across up to 28 categories. The elementary, middle, and high school with the most participants can win awards of up to $5,000.
Course maps and directions are published for both distances. Local businesses and community partners support the event through multiple sponsor levels, including presenting, diamond, platinum, gold, silver, and bronze sponsors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
