Hometown Hustle 5K and 1 Mile Superhero Color Run/Walk
The Hometown Hustle is an annual community running and fundraising event presented by Chief Financial Credit Union and organized by the Rochester Community Schools Foundation. It combines a five kilometer run or walk with a one mile Superhero Color Fun Run. The 5K is offered as a timed or untimed run/walk; all 5K participants receive a bib with a timing chip. The color run is an untimed one mile route where participants are doused with color and receive a superhero cape.
Race entries include a swag bag with a t shirt, a bib, and sponsor-provided goodies. Adult registration pricing is listed at $30 and student registration for RCS K through 12 students is listed at $20. A group discount is noted for four or more adults, with a $5 reduction per adult registration. The event awards the elementary, middle, or high school with the most participants a $1,000 prize for use at that building.
Post race activities take place in the parking lot of Chief Financial Credit Union and include music, photo opportunities, sponsor displays, and opportunities to use the Paint Creek Trail and City of Rochester routes with 5K participants. The event has historically brought together more than 1,100 participants and onlookers and serves as a principal fundraiser for enhancing the educational experience of RCS students.
