Event Overview
The Hocking Hills Trail Run takes place in Logan, Ohio, within the Hocking Hills State Park and Hocking State Forest. First held in 1978, this long-running event utilizes a course that navigates through deep gorges, vast woodlands, and lush forested paths. Participants encounter stream crossings and significant elevation changes throughout the landscape.
The course features five distinct distance options:
- 50K
- 20 Mile
- 10 Mile
- 5 Mile
- 5K
The updated routes consist primarily of trail running with minimal paved sections. The paths allow runners to see the three main areas of the state park: Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave. All races begin near the Naturalist Cabin located off the Old Man's Cave parking area and the Visitor's Center. Registration remains open until the Thursday prior to the event.
