About the race
The Ημιμαραθώνιος Χίου is a road race organized by the Chiosrunning club in cooperation with the Municipality of Chios and the Regional Unit of Chios. The main event is the half marathon of 21.1 km with a route that passes through the traditional settlements of Thymiana and Fragkovouni and finishes in front of the building of the former Town Hall of Thymiana after 21,100 m.
Parallel races take place on the same occasion in the traditional settlement of Kambos and include:
- 1.5 km (kids)
- 1.5 km for A.M.E.A.
- 5 km
- 10.5 km
Participation in the half marathon requires completion of the 18th year of age. Prizes include medals and diplomas for each of the top three finishers in the overall men's and women's classifications; the first man and the first woman receive a trophy. All finishers receive a commemorative medal and diploma.
The symbolic participation fee for the half marathon is 27 euros and covers electronic timing with official results, a race number bearing the runner's name, a technical race shirt subject to available sizes, and the commemorative diploma and medal.
