Winter X
Winter X is a mid-winter trail running event in the Meon Valley, Hampshire, scheduled for 28 December 2026. The event offers four route options that start and finish at Meon Hall / Meonstoke Village Hall (Pound Lane, Southampton SO32 3NP) and use well-trodden public trails, including sections of the South Downs Way, with some short road links.
Distances:
- 10 km North leg on the old railway line to West Meon and back
- 30 km North and East legs, including the South Downs Way to the Sustainability Centre
- 50 km North, East, and West legs, adding Holden Farm and Beacon Hill
- 70 km Full course of four out-and-back legs via North, East, West, and South
Entries are managed via SiEntries and the event is capped at 300 walkers and runners across all routes. The event is held under UKA rules; dogs are not permitted. Minimum ages apply: 16+ for 10 km, 18+ for 30 km, and 20+ for 50 km and 70 km.
Organisers provide marked courses, marshal support, event timing, fully stocked checkpoints offering drinks and food options (including vegan/dairy-free items), post-event food and a memento rock. Routes are marked with arrows and flags but signage may be moved, so participants are advised to familiarise themselves with GPX files or maps and carry a fully charged mobile phone and visible race number.
