Event Details
The Hitchin Half Marathon is an annual running event held in early June, with the 2026 edition scheduled for June 7th. The event features multiple race distances: a half marathon, a Tough 10 Miler, and a Fierce 5 Miler. A 10 km option is also mentioned. All races start and finish at the iconic Hitchin Priory on Tilehouse Street.
The Course
The half marathon course is described as measured, undulating, and hilly. The route goes out of Hitchin onto country roads towards Preston village and Offley holes hill before returning. It runs through the Chiltern countryside on roads that are not closed to traffic. The course is fully marshaled and has signposted mile markers.
Included Features
Participant inclusions listed for the event are a race bib with an integrated timing chip, electronic timing with live online results, a race village with food and merchandise stalls, music at the start and finish, a baggage drop, a race medal, a downloadable finisher certificate, drink stations on course and at the finish, medical provision, and toilets at Race HQ. An optional T-shirt is available for an extra fee.
Additional Information
There is a 3-hour cut-off time for the half marathon. An awards ceremony is held for overall and age group winners. A separate Kid's fun run, called the Golden Mile, is also available.
