Course, rules and services
The main trail is a well-marked, rolling 6.5 mile loop on soft forest trails with some open sections, small creeks, bridges if needed, and a few tight turns. Course markings include caution tape, arrows, signs and confidence markers. Aid station support is provided so 10K, half and full participants will not go more than 2.5 miles without aid; 5K runners have an aid point near halfway. Chips are used for timing and are picked up race morning and worn on the ankle. Pacers are not allowed.
The Ruck division requires a ruck with set weights: 20 lb for participants under 150 lb and 30 lb for those over 150 lb, with mandatory weigh-ins. The Hippo Haul is a 5 km weight-carry race where each participant moves a provided concrete hippo and completes mandatory tasks at stations along the loop. No drop bag service is offered; parking is available at the race site and across the street at Cottonwood Creek Elementary. Awards include finisher medals and top overall prizes.
