Hippo Trail Fest, Hutto TX
Hippo Trail Fest is a trail running and ruck event held at the Hippo Social Club in Hutto, Texas on March 20, 2027. The festival includes multiple race distances, a youth 1 mile, ruck divisions, and the Hippo Haul, a 5 km weight carry obstacle race. Organizers and partners include the Hippo Social Club and Patriot Sports & Fitness, and the event supports Keep Hutto Beautiful.
The course is a well marked, rolling five mile loop on soft forest trails with some short open exposures, creek crossings, bridges, and occasional tight turns. Longer distances use repeated laps with a 1.1 mile first lap for the 50K then six five mile laps. Course markings use orange caution tape, yellow arrows, signs at splits, and confidence markers; reflective markers are used for dark hours.
Ruck division rules require a pack with weight, mandatory weigh in, and weight limits based on body weight. The Hippo Haul assigns each participant a concrete hippo of about five to ten pounds and includes mandatory challenge stations roughly every quarter to half mile.
Aid is provided at the start/finish and a midlap station with drinks, snacks, and electrolytes. All races are chip timed with ankle chips, pacers are not allowed, and participants must follow Leave No Trace and cupless event policies. Spectator parking and a small spectator fee apply.
