Event Overview
The Hippity Hop 5K is a family-friendly running event taking place at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan. The 5K run/walk starts and finishes near the zoo entrance and follows the paved Lansing River Trail, making it suitable for strollers. This year marks the event's 10th anniversary.
Activities and Features
In addition to the main 5K, the event includes an Easter Egg Hunt for children under 12, children's activities, and an appearance by the Easter Bunny. Registered participants receive same-day free entry to Potter Park Zoo. All participants in the 5K receive a t-shirt and a finisher's medal.
Registration and Pricing
Multiple participation options are available:
- 5K Run/Walk ($25)
- Kids 12 and Under 5K AND Easter Egg Hunt ($20)
- 5K Run/Walk VIRTUAL OPTION ($30)
- 5k Run/Walk VIRTUAL OPTION Children under 12 ($20)
- Easter Egg Hunt ONLY ($15)
Registration for the in-person event closes at midnight on April 3, 2026, and there is no race-day registration. A discount of $3 per person is available for groups of three or more registrants.
Event Details
The 5K is chip-timed and features an open start window. Awards are given for top overall, masters (over 40), and grand masters (over 50) finishers, as well as for the top two in each age group. The Easter Egg Hunt begins at the Tiger Den Pavilion. Packet pickup is available the day before the event or on race morning at the zoo.
Beneficiary
All proceeds from the event support the Child Benefit Fund, a nonprofit that has assisted at-risk youth and families in Ingham County for over 40 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
