Event details
The Hippity Hop 5K is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan. The event includes an in-person 5K run/walk, a kids 12-and-under 5K with an Easter egg hunt, virtual 5K options (adult and children), and an Easter egg hunt-only option for children. All registered participants receive same-day free entry to the Potter Park Zoo.

Logistics, course and awards
The 5K is chip timed and follows a paved course along the Lansing River Trail. The course is stroller friendly. Packets can be picked up the day before at the Tiger Den pavilion at Potter Park Zoo or on the morning of the event at the pavilion. Registration closes at midnight on April 3, 2026; there will be no race day registrations.
Every 5K participant receives a t-shirt and a finisher medal. Awards include overall, Master (over 40), and Grand Master (over 50) male and female prizes. First and second places in each age group will receive medals and prizes; age groups span from 7 & under up to 75+. Note that age-group awards are given only to in-person attendees.
Charity and proceeds
Proceeds benefit the Child Benefit Fund, which provides clothing, sports fees, emergency needs, extra-curricular activities, and holiday gifts for approximately 250–300 children per year in Ingham County. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
