Hippity Hop 5K
The Hippity Hop 5K takes place on April 25, 2026 at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan (1301 S. Pennsylvania Avenue). The event program includes an in-person 5K run/walk, a kids 5K with an Easter egg hunt for children 12 and under, and virtual 5K options with mailed shirts and medals.
The in-person 5K follows a paved course along the Lansing River Trail and starts and finishes near the zoo entrance. The course is chip-timed and described as stroller friendly. All in-person 5K participants receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal. Virtual registrants will have t-shirts and medals shipped after the event.
Awards are given for overall, Master (over 40), and Grand Master (over 50) male and female finishers, and for the top two in each age group. Age groups cover a wide range from 7 and under up to 75 and older. The Easter egg hunt is for children 12 and under; registered children receive a bag, a t-shirt, and a guaranteed minimum number of eggs.
Packets can be picked up at the Tiger Den pavilion at Potter Park Zoo on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or beginning at 8:30 AM on the day of the event. Registration opens December 1, 2025 and deadlines vary by race type in March and April 2026. Family pricing applies for groups of three or more with a discount of $3 per registrant.
