Hilton Head BEACH BUM Triathlon & Duathlon : June 20, 2026
The event takes place at Coligny Beach Park on Hilton Head Island, SC. It includes three entry types: Triathlon - Individual, Triathlon - Team Relay, and Duathlon - Individual. Entry fees listed are $60 for individual triathlon, $75 for team relay, and $60 for the duathlon; prices increase after December 31, 2025. Packet pickup is offered the day before at Hilton Head Running Company and on race day at the beach. There is no race day registration.
Course, format and rules
All legs of the bike and run courses take place on the hard, flat beach; the swim is in the ocean. Distances are:
- Triathlon: 500 m swim, 6 mi bike, 3 mi run
- Duathlon: 1.5 mi run, 6 mi bike, 3 mi run
The swim is a mass start with three yellow buoys; swimmers must pass the buoys on the outside. Swim caps are provided and must be worn. Transition is on the beach; bike racks are unnumbered and operate first come first serve. Only participants may access the fenced transition area and remove their own bikes. Participants must run bikes to the transition entrance before mounting and must dismount before reentering the transition area. Headphones are not allowed during bike and run portions. Wetsuits are permitted. All solo swimmers must be at least 15 years old on race day; younger athletes may race on relay teams in non-swim legs.
Awards are given by gender in specified age divisions for triathlon and for top finishers in the duathlon. Organizers will delay, postpone or cancel for unsafe weather and will notify participants by email. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
