Event Overview

The Hillsborough YMCA Hop 5K is a running event in Hillsborough, New Jersey. It has been held for over 25 years as a spring community tradition.

The event offers two ways to participate: an in-person 5K and a Virtual 5K. The in-person race is a USATF-certified Grand Prix event. The course starts at the Hillsborough YMCA on East Mountain Road and finishes at the Hillsborough Municipal Building on South Branch Road, described as passing through neighborhoods and having a net downhill.

Event Details

Participants receive a commemorative shirt and bib. Registration fees for both the in-person and virtual events are $30 until April 30, and $35 after that date.

Awards are given for the top three overall male, female, and nonbinary finishers, as well as for the top parent/child teams. Age group awards are offered for categories ranging from 8 and under to 90+, in five-year increments starting at age 15.

The event also includes a "Hoppy Award" for the Hillsborough school with the most participants on race day. Proceeds from the event support the YMCA's financial assistance programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
