Hillsborough YMCA Hop 5K : event overview
The Hillsborough YMCA Hop 5K is a community running event held on June 6, 2026 at the Hillsborough YMCA, 19 East Mountain Road, Hillsborough, NJ. The event has grown over 25 years and is described as a spring fitness tradition in the Hillsborough community.
The in-person 5K starts at the Hillsborough YMCA and follows a net downhill, USATF certified Grand Prix course through fast, flat neighborhoods before finishing at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 379 South Branch Road. Participants in the in-person 5K receive a commemorative shirt and bib. Awards are given to the top three finishers in male, female, and nonbinary categories, and for top parent/child teams. Age group awards are organized as follows: 8 and under, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, and then 15 to 90+ in five-year age groups for male and female categories. The event welcomes both competitive runners and walkers.
A virtual 5K option is offered for those who cannot attend on race day or prefer to complete the distance elsewhere. Virtual participants also receive a commemorative shirt and bib and can log their 5K results online to join the virtual race community.
Registration fees are $30 through April 30, then $35 until race day. Proceeds and sponsor support contribute to the YMCA’s financial assistance for programs and services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
