Event Overview
The Highworth 5 mile road race is a Spring event in Wiltshire, returning for its 39th edition. The course is a scenic 5 mile loop run mainly on open country roads, with a notable feature at the 4 mile marker. The race starts and finishes at Warneford School in Highworth, which makes it accessible for spectators.
Practical Information
The event has a participant limit of 400. Online entry costs £18 for affiliated runners and £20 for unaffiliated runners. If the limit is not reached through online entries, on-the-day entries are accepted for an extra £2 fee. The 5-mile distance is certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers. The race uses individual chip timing. All finishers receive a completion medal. Trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female runners, and to age category winners. A team award is given to the first three finishers from a club, provided they are wearing club attire.
Facilities and Restrictions
Tea, coffee, water, and cake are available at the race headquarters. There is no bag drop facility, so runners are asked to leave belongings in their cars. Free parking is available at Warneford School and an overflow site at Southfields Junior School, as well as at public car parks in Brewery Street. The race is not suitable for wheelchairs, as most of the route is on narrow roads without pavements and can have muddy patches or potholes. Dogs are not permitted on the course. The event is open to participants aged 15 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
