Highwood 5K Family Run, Walk & Stroll
Celebrate Highwood organizes the Highwood 5K Family Run, Walk & Stroll in Downtown Highwood. The event features a 5 kilometer route and a one mile walk option and follows a course that starts and finishes at the corner of Sheridan Road and Clay Avenue, runs along the lake front trail, and passes through historic Fort Sheridan.
The event embraces a superhero theme and welcomes participants with costumes. Proceeds benefit the Oak Terrace Parent Teacher Organization, a nonprofit that supports Oak Terrace School. Oak Terrace serves 502 students and 93 staff members, with 43% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch.
Registration fees listed for the event include a fee for the 5K and a separate fee for the one mile walk. Packet pick up is available before the event at the Celebrate Highwood tent during the Highwood Evening Gourmet Market in Everts Park, and onsite packet pick up and registration take place at the start/finish location in downtown Highwood.
Age group awards recognize the first, second, and third place male and female finishers in two age groups: 16 and under, and 17 and over.
