Highlandville Trout Trot
The Highlandville Trout Trot is a community 5K run/walk held on July 10 at Highland General Store & Campground, 3497 Highlandville Rd, Highlandville, IA 52149. The event is presented as a family-friendly activity; dogs are welcome if kept on a leash.
Registration opens May 30 and closes July 10. A pre-registration deadline of June 28 applies for those who wish to receive a t-shirt. Registration fees are listed by age group: adults $30 and children 12 and under $20. Race-night registration is available. The paid registration includes a light post-race meal featuring brats, hotdogs, chips, bars and beverages.
Proceeds from the 5K will be directed to designated local recipients.
Additional community activities on the following day at the campground include Candy Bar Bingo, a silent auction, a duck race with ducks available for purchase, and a Bean Bag Tournament with social and competitive divisions. The tournament fee is $25 per team and payouts depend on the number of teams. A potluck meal follows with participants asked to bring a lawn chair, a dish to pass and a beverage; hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided with a free-will donation.
