Crater Trail Run
Crater Trail Run is an off-road trail event held in Decorah, Iowa at Van Peenen Memorial Park. The course uses single-track mountain bike and running trails that are part of a larger 17-mile plus trail system in the area. The event supports local organizations including the Northeast Iowa Montessori School, Decorah Human Powered Trails and Decorah Park & Rec.
Aid stations are provided with water, hydration drink and food as supplies last. Specific aid and drop-bag locations described for longer distances include stations at the park entrance used for a second lap, a station at the Palisades Park entrance, and a repeated station known as Death Valley that 50K runners encounter multiple times.
The event includes a range of distances:
- 1 Mile
- 5K - 3.2 miles, 613 feet of climbing
- 10K - 6.3 miles, 1383 feet of climbing
- 25K - 15.5 miles, 2750 feet of climbing
