The route begins in Milngavie and travels through the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, finishing in the village of Tyndrum. The course is way-marked and consists of approximately 90% trail and 10% road, involving 2300 m of ascent and 2100 m of descent.

Participants must be at least 20 years old and meet specific qualification criteria to enter. Runners are required to have completed an ultramarathon, trail marathon, or a road marathon within a specific timeframe before the event. Road marathon finishes must be under 5 hours to qualify.

The event provides several services for participants:

For safety, participants must carry mandatory kit, including an emergency foil blanket, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, a head torch, and a mobile phone. Running poles are permitted after the 7.5 mile mark.

At the finish in Tyndrum, the event offers heated marquees, showers, post-race massages, and food. Official photography and luggage transport from the start to the finish are included. Professional chip timing is used to track progress. External support, pacers, and dogs are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
