Event Overview
The High Country 5K takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Hoover, Alabama. The event is hosted by Shades Crest Baptist Church and is described as the longest-running road race in the Bluff Park area.
Event Details
Two running events are scheduled:
- High Country 5K Race: Open to participants aged 12 to 99.
- Elementary Challenge 5K: A separate event for participants in kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 5-12), which runs on the same course with a delayed start.
Race packets can be picked up on Friday, April 10, at the Family Life Center on Rockland Drive, or on the morning of the event.
Race Features
The event includes chip timing and a corral start system based on a runner's estimated finish time. The course has mile markers, a water station at the midpoint, and a police escort. A medal ceremony and a free pancake breakfast are held after the race.
Registration Notes
Registration fees increase over time, starting with an early-bird rate. A specific student rate is available for the Elementary Challenge.
