Herts Hobble 2026
Herts Hobble is a one-day cross-country walking and running event based at the Scout Hut, Park Drive, Baldock SG7 6EN. Routes form circular courses to the south east of Baldock across undulating grassland, fields and woodland, with panoramic views of Hertfordshire countryside.
Entrants may choose between the following distances:
- 26 miles
- 18 miles
The event is open to people aged 14 or older; anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Entries open on 1 March 2026 and close on 13 June 2026 unless the entry limit of 175 is reached earlier. Entry fees are listed by membership status: LDWA members £15.00 and non-members £22.50. Entries are not transferable. Cancellations before 30 May 2026 are refundable minus a £3.00 administration fee.
There is no parking at the Scout Hut. Parking is available in the rear car park at Tesco in Baldock (postcode SG7 6BN); use the main Tesco entrance and follow the Click and Collect signs to the rear car park. Refreshments include drinks and biscuits at the start, snacks and hot and cold drinks at checkpoints, additional water points if hot, and a light meal at the finish; entrants are asked to bring their own mug. Dogs are not permitted.
Route descriptions and .gpx files will be posted on the Essex & Herts LDWA website seven days before the event. Route maps reference Explorer and Landranger map numbers for navigation.
