Herts Hobble 2026
The Herts Hobble is a cross country event starting and finishing at the Scout Hut in Baldock. The circular routes traverse the undulating countryside of North West Hertfordshire, leading participants through a landscape of grassland, fields, and woodland south east of the town. Participants have the option to choose between two distinct distances:
- 26 miles
- 18 miles
The course is designed to offer panoramic views of the Hertfordshire countryside. The event is open to individuals aged 14 and older, though any participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Registration is available for both members of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) and non-members, with an entry limit restricted to 175 participants.
Refreshments including drinks and biscuits are provided at the start. Checkpoints along the route offer snacks and hot and cold drinks, with additional water points available if weather conditions require them. A light meal is served at the finish line. Participants are required to bring their own mug for drinks.
The event utilizes Explorer maps 193 and 194 or Landranger map 166. Route descriptions and GPX files are provided by the organizer one week before the event. There is no parking available at the venue; instead, parking is situated at the rear of the Tesco's car park in Baldock. This event is part of the Essex and Herts Triple Challenge.
