Herron Half Marathon

Herron Half, 10k and 5k : Herron Park, Flathead Valley, Montana
The Herron races are trail events held at Herron Park that include a half marathon, 10k, and 5k, plus an informal kids' race for those under 13. Proceeds support the Foys to Blacktail Trails nonprofit and go toward building and maintaining the 34-mile FTBT trail system. The races are part of the Flathead Race Series.
Course support varies by distance: the half marathon has three aid stations, the 10k has one aid station, and the 5k has no aid stations. Runners must carry their own bottles to use water or electrolyte drinks, as no cups are provided. Cell phone coverage is mostly present along the course but not guaranteed; aid volunteers will carry phones and radios.
Wildlife is present along the trails, including bears and mountain lions; carrying bear spray is encouraged and running with headphones is discouraged. The event follows wildfire and air-quality policies: organizers may cancel for safety reasons and offer deferral or donation options if races are canceled. Dogs are not permitted in the races; spectator dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after under county park rules.
On-site parking is available in the main Herron lot and the stable lot, with volunteers assisting. A limited number of camping units may be allowed near the stables for a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
