Hero 5k Walk / Run
The Hero 5k Walk / Run is a community 5k event in El Dorado, Arkansas, held on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The course starts and finishes at the corner of E. Cedar St. and S. Jefferson Ave. and follows local streets through a loop around the downtown and mall area.
The event honors local courageous heroes including healthcare professionals, military personnel, firefighters, and law enforcement. It grew in memory of a local service member who died while deployed in 2010 and also honors a local healthcare worker and race supporter who worked in healthcare for 12 years and was an alumna of SouthArk.
Registration fees vary by date: pre-registration by August 28 is $30, and registration after August 28 is $35. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at the El Dorado Conference Center West Foyer and there is race day packet pick up at the start location. A guaranteed race shirt requires registration by Friday, August 28; available sizes are XS through XXL.
Awards for the runner division include a $100 cash prize for first overall male and female and awards for the top three finishers in each age and gender division. Walkers compete in a single division. All registered participants receive a swag bag with a commemorative performance t-shirt and race items. The race proceeds in ordinary precipitation but may be canceled if conditions present imminent danger; no refunds are given. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
