Hero 5k Walk / Run
The event is a community 5k run and 5k walk held in El Dorado, Arkansas on September 12, 2026. It honors local healthcare professionals, military personnel, firefighters, law enforcement, and first responders, and aims to raise awareness of the sacrifices they make while bringing the community together in their honor.

The race grew in memory of a local service member who died in Iraq on May 24, 2010, and also recognizes a local racing community volunteer who worked in healthcare and was affiliated with SouthArk. The start and finish are located at the corner of E. Cedar St. and S. Jefferson Ave. Packet pickup is scheduled at the El Dorado Conference Center the day before the race and at the start location on race day.
Registration fees are $30 for registrations completed by August 28 and $35 for later registrations. Runner divisions are organized by age groups from 0–9 through 70+, while all walkers compete in a single walker division. Awards include a $100 cash prize for first place overall male and female and awards for the top three in each age and gender division; overall winners do not receive age division awards.
All registered participants receive a swag bag with a commemorative performance t-shirt, official bib, and race items. The race proceeds in normal precipitation but will be canceled if weather presents imminent danger; no refunds are given.
