About the race
Björn Borg Helsinki Marathon is an open road running event taking place in the streets of central Helsinki. The event uses a one-lap format and offers multiple race options.
Distances:
- Marathon (42,195 km)
- Marathon relay (4 x 10.55 km)
- Half marathon (21.1 km)
- 10 km
The event area and competition office are located at Meripuisto. The 10 km race starts from Kaisaniemenranta and finishes in Meripuisto; other races start and finish in Meripuisto. Race numbers are collected from the competition office on the event area; numbers must be shown visibly and the timing chip is attached to the race number. A free equipment storage is available near the start and finish in Meripuisto; 10 km runners can leave bags at the 10 km start for transport to Meripuisto.
Chip timing provides both gross and net times; official results are based on net time. Each distance has a maximum allowed finishing time and cut off points along the route. Drinking stations are placed every few kilometres and supply water, Dexal sports drink and at some points energy gels. Own drinks may be delivered in advance to designated pick-up points for marathons and half marathons. First aid and mobile patrols operate on the route. Wheelchair participation is allowed with restrictions for high-speed racing chairs. Runners receive a finisher medal and partner products at the finish.
