Hell Horse Hundred
The Hell Horse Hundred is a looped trail event at Pale Horse Ranch in Big Sandy, Texas, scheduled for June 20, 2027. The race follows a 3.1 mile loop through piney woods and open pasture and is offered in the following distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 25K
- 50K
- 100K
- 100M
The surface combines grassy and paved trail. The course is exposed with little shade and is hilly, with about 148 feet of elevation gain per 3.1 mile loop. Organizers note extreme Texas heat; the page lists historic averages of 75–95°F and also includes a warning that average temperatures can exceed 100°F.
Safety and race support details include a main aid station at mile 0/3.1 and a water station at mile 1.5. Aid stations offer hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice; the event will have pallets of ice, hundreds of gallons of water and electrolytes, and EMS will be on site. A water-carrying system is required for all events and no cups will be provided. A headlamp is required for all events. Cutoffs are specified by elapsed time for the longer distances (for example 50K 12 hours; 100K 24 hours; 100M 30 hours). Pacers are allowed for the 100K and 100M under published rules and must wear a marked pacer bib.
Finishers receive event shirts and medals; 100K and 100M have event buckles and other place awards are listed by distance and division. Registration is open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
