Hell Horse Hundred
The Hell Horse Hundred stages multiple loop-distance events on a 3.1 mile loop at Pale Horse Ranch in Big Sandy, Texas. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 25K
- 50K
- 100K
- 100M
The course runs through piney woods and open pasture land with grassy and paved trail surfaces and little to no shade. Each 3.1 mile loop features about 148 feet of elevation gain. Historic conditions include extreme Texas heat with average temperatures reported above 100 degrees, and the race notes that this is a very hot event.
Organizers require a water-carrying system for all events; cups are not provided at water points. A headlamp is required for participants. Aid is provided on course with a main aid station at mile 0/3.1 and a water station at mile 1.5. Aid offerings include hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice; large quantities of ice and water will be on site and EMS will be present.
Time cutoffs are in place: 50K 12 hours, 100K 24 hours, 100M 36 hours. Pacers are allowed for the 100K and 100M at mile 40 and must follow pacer bib and swap rules. Finishers receive a t-shirt and medal; additional awards and finisher buckles apply by distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
