Event overview
The GLIRC Heckscher State Park Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K takes place on March 28, 2026 at Heckscher State Park in East Islip, NY. The event proceeds rain or shine. It offers three distances: a marathon, a half marathon and a 5K. The marathon is a Boston qualifier and the marathon, half and 5K courses are USATF certified.

The courses use looped routes on fully closed park roads. The course includes water and nutrition stations and finish line photos are provided free. Course maps are available for each distance.
Registration, cutoff and awards
Registration tiers include early bird and later pricing; discounts are available for GLIRC members, veterans, and seniors (65+). Registered runners who enter early receive a personalized bib if registered three weeks before race day. The marathon has a six hour cutoff. Guaranteed shirts require registration by March 7.
Awards are given to top finishers overall and in age groups, including:
- Top 3 male and female overall
- Top 3 male and female in age groups from 15-19 up to 80+
- Top male and female masters
- Top 3 male and female age graded
Amenities and logistics
Runners receive a long-sleeved shirt and a finisher medal. Light refreshments and All Round Foods are served afterward. Additional services include a heated tent, live/results by text and email, and same-day finish line photos. Race day bib pickup is at Field 6.
